Dance Me a Story

Yesterday, Margaret from Ballet Quad Cities came to Mercer Carnegie Library so our patrons could dance a story.

Margaret taught them the five basic positions of ballet, and talked about being a professional ballerina.  She then discussed how a story becomes a ballet.  After that she read Where the Wild Things are by Maurice Sendak.

The children and Margaret then thought about the best choreography that would fit the story.  They practiced the choreography and finally the children put on a performance.  We had some great dancers here at the Mercer Carnegie Library!
